The German Program at Hope is here to help students become proficient German speakers and to provide a well-rounded education in German culture. This includes courses in German film, theater (where students perform their own play), mythology, language history and culture through the WWW. Many of our graduates have gone on to become German teachers and have also competed successfully for Fulbright Scholarships.
295 - Chinese Language and Culture Hope Catalog
This is a course designed for the students who have never or little exposure to Chinese language, but nevertheless have a vision for a professional or non-professional relation to China, an emerging economic giant in Asia. This course will be conducted in both English and Mandarin Chinese, focusing on basic skills of the language: listening, speaking as well as simple reading and writing. As language is intertwined with culture, the Chinese culture will also be introduced along with the language.
101. German I Hope Catalog
Introduction to German. Students will achieve an elementary communicative competency in both spoken and written German. Oral work in class forms the cornerstone of learning, augmented by computer and written exercises to assist in learning vocabulary and essential grammatical structures.
