Prerequisite: None | Lecture: 5 hours. UC:CSU 5 UNITS
First course in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing French. Introduction to the cultures and civilization of the French-speaking world. Intended primarily for students with little or no knowledge of French. Acceptable for credit: CSUN: French 101 + 101C.

2 ELEMENTARY FRENCH II
(CAN FREN 4;CANFREN SEQ A: FRENCH 1+2)
Prerequisite: French 1 | Lecture: 5 hours. UC:CSU 5 UNITS
Continuation of French 1. Acceptable for credit: CSUN: French 102 & 102C.

3 INTERMEDIATE FRENCH I
(CAN FREN 8;CANFREN SEQ B: FRENCH 3+4)
Prerequisite: French 2 or equivalent | Lecture: 5 hours. UC:CSU 5 UNITS
Review and development of grammatical concepts learned in previous courses. Amplification of vocabulary and practice in composition. Introduction to literature and further study of culture and civilization through short stories. Acceptable for credit: CSUN: French 204.

4 INTERMEDIATE FRENCH II
(CAN FREN 10;CANFREN SEQ B:FRENCH 3+4)
Prerequisite: French 3 or 6 semesters of high school French | Lecture: 5 hours. UC:CSU 5 UNITS
Continuation of French 3. Acceptable for credit: CSUN: French 208.
