The Spanish Program offers a Spanish minor and teaching certification in Middle Childhood/Early Adolescence. The minor courses are chosen to foster competency in understanding, speaking, writing, and reading Spanish according to ACTFL oral proficiency standards. Cultural awareness is also an important objective for students choosing to minor in Spanish. A placement test is required for those students who have had Spanish classes and are entering their first Spanish class at Silver Lake College. Immersion experiences are available to all students and are required for teaching licensure.

The Bachelor of Arts degree in English affords students a vibrant study of literature in an intimate setting. Students acquire in-depth knowledge of the traditions of American, British, and World literature, as they understand the richness of our literary and cultural heritages. As students grow as readers, they learn to position those literary traditions in relation to the values of today's global society. Students augment their studies by taking a minor in an additional discipline.

Liberal Arts Core
A liberal arts minor in Spanish greatly enhances career preparation in a wide variety of fields. Spanish is a valuable support tool in education, administration, all the health and social service fields, business, banking, and especially in service and product sales and marketing.
A teaching major in Spanish provides the essential skills and knowledge to satisfy the requirements of the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction for a license to teach Spanish.
A unique aspect of Spanish at Wisconsin Lutheran is a 10 week study abroad program in Monterey, Mexico. While studying at the university there, students have an opportunity to work with
In our global community, knowledge of a foreign language is quickly becoming a necessity in order to better understand our neighbors, our colleagues at work, and our world. The College of Lake County offers courses in Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian and Spanish. In addition, advanced students are able to study specific cultures in their native languages.
To assist the student of languages we use a state of the art language laboratory.
Of special interest to some students may be a special topics introductory Spanish course for teachers and/or the Spanish for Spanish Speakers class.
