You will study literature from the Renaissance to the present, including some exciting fields of study that have developed comparatively recently, such as writing from India, Africa, the Caribbean, North America and Ireland; the work of women writers; popular fiction and creative writing. The emphasis is on studying literature in relation to other cultural forms (like film and the visual arts) and the historical and political contexts in which it was produced.
